Welcome to the latest Build newsletter. We've got lots to update since the last emails — topics, workshops, the beginnings of our fringe programme & the conference after-party!
Topics & Workshops
Throughout the day, we'll be covering topics surrounding the evolving web, seductive design, passion, expertise, usability & a richer typographic web. Full descriptions & registration on all the topics are available now on the Build website.
We've also recently confirmed our workshop lineup, including Andy Budd on Guerrilla Usability Testing, Chris Murphy & Nik Persson on HTML 5 and CSS 3 and Phil Strain on Accessibility 2.0. All workshops are full-day and lunch/refreshments will be provided. Again, full descriptions & registration for the workshops are available now on the Build website.
Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.
Airside is a specialized graphic design company based in London best known for their stylized and colourful animation and illustration work. Their clients include Coca Cola, Virgin, MTV, Orange, Live Earth the Pet Shop Boys & Lemon Jelly. As part of the fringe events at Build, Airside will present an evening lecture on the history of the studio and speak on their stunning & vast portfolio.
Right after the conference, we'll be heading to McHughs Bar, just a few hundred yards from the Waterfront Studio, for a few well deserved beers. We'll be laying on DJs & entertainment in the basement — kicking off at 7pm to give everyone the chance to unburden & grab some dinner before heading round.
