James Hockley, a talented music producer, engineer and programmer.

Starting his career as a 13 year old schoolboy, discovering computers could make music especially when connected to synthesisers, this new found passion led to a course at Alchemea, and eventually becoming engineer at Alien Studios London in 1996,

James cut his teeth working with Miles Hunt (The Wonder Stuff & Vent 414), Cass (The Senseless things), Jerry DeBourg (Jesus Jones), 18 Wheeler and ‘A’ and Producers such as Markus Dravs (Byork, James and Coldplay) and Jessica Corcoran (Neds Atomic Dustbin, The Wonder Stuff).

In 1998, James started programming writing and engineering Speed Garage and House music at a studio in Bow, east London, stepping boldly into the shoes of engineer/programmer MJ Cole.

2001 came and James bought his own studio, Strawberry Hills, and ran it along side his on production suite and office for his online record label, 0dB Records. James has completed programming projects for Matt Willis (Mercury Records),  Andrea Corr, The Sugababes, McFly (Island Records).

James  signed a production deal in 2006, under the name of SJB, and went on to sign to Ministry of Sound.  This opened the door to working with some of the major DJ and Dance music talent in the UK, Tall Paul, Brandon Block and Fedde Le Grande.

In 2007 a call came in from Chicane, initially to work on a Remix of ‘Spirit’,  James spent 3 days working with Nick at his studio and was invited to become a permanent addition to the Chicane Production Team, both Producing and Writing for the 2010 Chicane album 'GIANTS', as well as co producing ‘Poppiholla’, the Number 7 Hit in 2009, and remixing for William Orbit, BT, Armin van Burren and Frankie goes to Hollywood.
