Use this
tab
when you need to time a single swimmer in an individual
event.
Follow these easy steps:
After
opening
the application, click in the Individual tab in the
bottom.
After that, click in the Edit Button.
After
clicking the Edit button you have options to include
the
name of the event, the swimmer name who will be
swimming the
event and to modify (if needed) where the laps are
going to
be taken (see more information here),
see picture below:
When
selecting the swimmer, you still have the option of
creating
a new swimmer if he/she is not in the list (complete
swimmers administration is done in the Info->Swimmers tab).
To
create a new swimmer use the Add button (+) and
provide the
swimmer name.
Once
the
Event, swimmer and Lap options are defined you are
ready to
start timing your swimmer. When the race starts, you
can
either start the timer using the volume buttons of
your
device or use the Start button in the screen. Each
time the
swimmer crosses the lap mark (Two Lengths of the
Course or
One Length of the Course), hit the Lap button or your
volume
button and the app will record all the lap information
as
shown below:
Notice
above
some key data that application provides per lap, like
the
Estimated time and the big number to your right which
is the
lap time in seconds which is very useful for those who
is
difficult to see your device (like me). Also notice
that
both of the buttons, in the last lap, changed their
labels
to Stop because the app 'knows' that the swimmer is
swimming
the last lap of the race. When the swimmer finishes
use ANY
button to stop the timer. This include any of the
volume
buttons of your device. Once you clicked the Stop
button the
App will look like the picture below:
The
Reset
button allows you to clear out the timer but what is
more
important to save the information, including all the
laps.
This information will be available in the Recents tab for later
review and
if needed it can be sent by email.
Individual+ Events
Tab
Use the Individual+ tab if you need to time multiple
swimmers in
an individual event. Follow these easy steps when using
the
Individual+ tab:
After
opening
the application, click in the Individual+ tab in the
bottom.
After that click in the Edit button.
After
clicking the Edit button, you have two options: to
enter the
swimmers for the event using the Add button (+) or
using the
Teams button.
If you
use
the Add Button (+), note you can select more
than one.
If a swimmer is not in the list, click the Plus button
to
add him/her. After finishing the
selection
click in the Done button.
Using
the
Teams button you can add swimmers to the event.
Predefined
teams help you to define groups of swimmers per event.
Teams
can be defined before the meet and will expedite the
process
of picking the swimmers for a meet during the meet.
Teams
can be created in Info ->
Teams
tab.
Use the
Event
button to select the Individual Event (ie. 100
Individual
Medley). If needed use the Laps button to change the
location where the Laps
are
going to be taken. After finishing the
selection click in the Done button.
When
the race
starts, click the Start All button to start the timer.
Notice that the Volume button (up) of your device can
be
used to start and stop the timer.
For
each
swimmer start taking laps, clicking the Lap button.
Notice
this button automatically changes the color and
labels, when
the swimmer is swimming his/her last lap. Also this
button
shows the last lap in seconds (big number) as a
reference. Sometimes
clicking the button in the screen is difficult
specially
when swimmers are really close, basically you don't
have
enough time to click the corresponding button and the
splits
may not be precise. For those scenarios, you can take
the
splits using the Volume (DOWN) button. Splits taken
with the
volume down button won't be assigned to any swimmer
and they
can be assigned later on. See more information in Unassigned Splits.
At any
time
of the race, you can see the summary of the laps
clicking
the View button. Below is a sample of this summary
after
clicking the View button.
Finally
when
the last swimmer finishes and you click his/her Last
Lap
button, the application automatically will stop the
overall
timer. At this point you can review the results
clicking in
the View button as described before, or you can click
the
Reset button to save all the information. The race
details
can be reviewed at later time in the Recents tab of the
application.
Unassigned Splits
This
feature
was built to be able to take exact splits when several
swimmers are arriving the lap area almost at the same
time.
For example 3 swimmers of your team are approaching to
the
25y lap zone, where you are taking splits, instead of
taking
splits using the buttons in the screen, you just take
each
split clicking the DOWN volume button of your device;
once
they have passed, you click in the Unassigned Splits
button
in the app and those splits are going to be listed.
You can
assign each split to the corresponding swimmer,
selecting
the unassigned split and assigning it to the
corresponding
athlete. Once they are assigned they become like
regular
splits. After this you can continue using your app as
usual,
just keep in mind that you have two ways of taking
splits:
using the buttons in the screen and/or using the
volume down
button of the device. Notice you can use both ways in
the
same race.
See
below
screenshot the list of unassigned splits once you
click the
Unassigned Splits button:
To assign each split, select each
split and
the app will show you the list of available
swimmers in
the race to pick from; pick the applet for the
selected
split. See example below of available athletes to
pick
from:
Once
you
have matched each split to the corresponding
athlete,
click the assign button on top and the app will
relate
the split to each athlete; athlete's individual
stats
(estimated time, etc) will be calculated
accordingly.
See screenshot below which shows when the users
has
finished relating each split to each athlete and
just
before clicking the Assign button on top of the
screen:
Relay Events Tab
This is
the
reason why I decided to make this app because I couldn't
find
any other app which would allow me to time relay events
in a
simple way and effectively. This module allows you to
time
relay events with a single button, yes a single button,
keeping track of total times and laps of individual legs
separately. Let me show you how it is done following
these
simple steps:
After
opening
the application select the Relays tab in the bottom of
the
screen. After that click the Edit button.
Select
the
relay event. After selecting the event you should
select
the swimmers in the relay team. They can be selected
individually, using the provided options per leg or
they
can be selected as a whole team, using the Team
button on
the top of the screen. When you select them
individually,
it is straight forward, clicking each leg and
selecting
the swimmer name in the provided list. Please notice
that
swimmers need to be created before hand, and they
can be
created in the Info
->
swimmers tab. If you decide to use the Teams
option,
the app will show these options:
Teams can be predefined
in the
app before the meets and they facilitate the selection
of
swimmers during the meets. Instead of picking them one
by one,
you select the entire team. Teams need to be predefined
and
they can be created in the Info
->
Teams tab. Notice in the picture above that you
can
select Teams for the selected relay event (in this case
100
Individual Medley) or if you click the All button you
will see
all the Teams in the database that you have created for
relay
events. Be wise when you create the Teams, specially the
order
of the swimmers, because the order will determine the
corresponding leg in the relay team. (In the Info -> Team tab you can
modify
the order of the swimmers in the Team at any time). Once
you
have selected the swimmers and the relay event, the
application will look like this:
Once
the
Event & swimmers are selected, you are ready to
start
timing your relay team. When the race starts, you can
either
start the timer using the volume buttons of your
device or
use the Start button in the screen. Each time the
swimmer
reaches the lap, hit the lap button or your volume
button
(the second one from top to bottom) and the app will
record
all the lap information as shown below:
Again
each
and every time your swimmers reach the lap mark hit
the lap
button. You don't need to do anything else!, the app
will
record individual and total times regardless of leg
automatically. Notice in the picture above that at any
time
during the race you could review individual laps using
the
button on top (1st Leg, 2nd Leg, etc). Reviewing leg
laps
doesn't interfere with the recording of the laps; in
other
words you can review laps for Leg 1, when taking laps
for
Leg 4. Notice that the Estimated time shown is for the
ENTIRE relay team. Also notice that both of the
buttons
changed their labels to Stop because the app 'knows'
the
swimmer is swimming the last lap of the last leg of
the
race. When the swimmer finishes, use ANY button to
stop the
timer. This include any of the volume buttons of your
device. Once you clicked the Stop button the App will
look
like the picture below:
The
Reset
button allows you to clear out the timer but what is
more
important to save the information, including all total
times
per leg along with the individual laps. This
information
will be available in the Recents
tab for later review and if needed it can be
sent by
email.
Recents Tab
In this tab
you can
review all saved races and events in the Individual,
Individual+
and Relay tabs. To use this module open the app and click
in the
Recents tab in the bottom of the screen. The app will
display
something like the picture shown below:
Notice it
shows
Individual and Relay event separately which can be listed
using
the button on top of the screen. Notice that the events
recorded
in the Individual+ tab are available in the Individual
list, and
they are marked as Group Competition. To delete an event,
swipe
the corresponding row to your left and select the Delete
option.
To see more details about an event select the record in
the
table and you'll see something similar as the picture
below:
The recorded
event
can be sent by email, clicking in the top right part of
the
screen. Below is shown a picture of the information sent:
Info Tab
The Info
tab
allows you to maintain the swimmers, teams and select
the lap
type. Below is shown the info tab:
Course Option
Allows you
to
select the type of course where the swimmers will race.
It
supports the 3 most common courses:
SCY -
25y
SCM -
25m
LCM -
50M
The
selection of
the course determines the length of each lap and also
the
estimated time of the race.
Laps at Option
Allows you
to
define where you are going to take laps:
Two
Lengths
of the Course: Laps taken at the end of the course,
down and
back.
One
Length of
the Course: Laps taken at each side of the course.
Based on
your
preferences you can set this option. Notice this setting
is
valid for Individual and relay events.
Swimmers Option
This option
allows
you the administration of the swimmer's database. You will
be
able to create individual swimmers or to import a list of
them
automatically. Also you can Export them if needed. See
below a
picture, once you select this option:
You can
add
swimmers one by one using the Add button (+) or import a
list
of them using the Import button. Adding an individual
swimmer
is straight forward, just click the Add button and
provide the
name as shown below:
Or you can
add
several of them at the same time using the Import
button. See
picture below when selecting the import option:
Enter the
names in
the space provided, separated by commas, like the example
shown
in the picture. Once you have finished, click the Import
button
and the app will create those swimmers automatically. A
nice
feature is that the Import option checks if the swimmer is
already created to prevent creation of duplicates. Another
idea
which can leverage the Import functionality is to email to
yourself the swimmers names, separate by commas, and copy
and
paste them from the email app into this app. You may have
the
roasters in an document, so you can format them (separated
by
commas) and send it by email to your device to use the
Import
functionality.
The export functionality allows you to send the list of
swimmers
by email. The list will be separated by commas and ready
to be
imported in another device using this app. This is useful
when
you have several devices and you need to keep on sync the
roaster. Also it allows you to share the list of swimmers
with
somebody else in your team using this app.
Teams Option
This
option
allows you to create teams of swimmers before the meet
to
facilitate the timing process during the meet. Once the
team
is created it will be available in the Individual+ and
Relays
tabs when selecting swimmers for the events. The below
picture
shows a picture after selecting this option in the Info
->
Teams tab:
Notice the
number in parenthesis which tells you the number of
swimmers
in the Team. A team is created in two steps: First the
Team
(Name, etc) and second selecting the team members in the
team.
To create a team click the Add button (+) on top of the
screen. See below picture after clicking the Add button
(+):
Define the
team's name, select the event for the team, clicking in
the
blue Event label and the Gender. When finish click in
the Done
button and the app will show again the list of teams
including
the new created team. The second step is to define which
swimmers will be in the team. To do so, click in the
created
team and the application will show the list of available
swimmers in the database (swimmers need to be created
first in
Info -> Swimmers tab).
Select the swimmers for the team and click done when
finish.
See below picture for this step in the process:
Notice
you can
change the order of the swimmers using the icon to the
right.
The order of the swimmers in the team is important
specially
for relay events. The delete option is available, using
the
red icon if you want to delete an swimmer. Click the
Done
button when you finish and you will see something like
the
picture below:
At any
time you
can edit the Team using the Edit button as shown
above.
This allows you to add/delete swimmers and change the
order of
them.
Finally a
team
can be deleted swiping the row to your left and
selecting the
Delete option. See picture below:
