Premiering this year, Light City Baltimore is the first large-scale, international light festival in the United States. See radiant art around the city from March 28-April 3 and attend concerts and innovation conferences throughout the week. And if road trips are your style, set your sights on an adventure along any of Maryland’s Scenic Byways for inviting views around the state.

Sweet Tastes of Spring

The sweetest place to be in Harford County is the Bel Air Armory for the 15th Annual Chocolate and Candy Festival, March 5. Sample from chocolatiers, candy makers, and sweet treat merchants. Hundreds of marshmallow masterpieces created by local artists, families, businesses, and community groups are displayed at the Carroll Arts Center during PEEPshow, March 25-April 6. You can’t eat the art, but it will make you hungry!

Stop and Smell the Flowers

Put winter to bed and get ready for spring! Home and garden shows around the state will awaken your senses with sweet floral scents. The Spring Maryland Home & Garden Show, March 5-6 and 11-13 at the State Fairgrounds, features artfully landscaped gardens, seminars, crafts, and more. Maryland Day Celebrations

Maryland Day commemorates March 25, 1634, the day settlers disembarked from two small sailing ships - the Ark and the Dove – onto Maryland soil. Hear the history of the voyage at the site of the original settlement, St. Clement’s Island, on March 24. Their Maryland Day celebrations include guest speakers, dignitaries, and wreath-laying.

Get Outside

Feel the rush of adventure before the seasons turn. Western Maryland isn’t done with snow – hit the hills for a tubing afternoon at Wisp Resort, March 6. Lace your boots and get in touch with nature at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Their Eagle Festival, March 12, is hands-on fun for the whole family that puts eagles, hawks, and falcons within reach.
